Hidden in the Andean highlands of Cusco lies Q’eswachaka, the last remaining Inca rope bridge still in use today. Woven entirely by hand from ichu grass using ancestral techniques, this bridge spans 28 meters over the Apurímac River and has been rebuilt annually for over 500 years by the local communities in a powerful display of living culture and collective work (minka).
More than just an archaeological relic, Q’eswachaka is a living heritage recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Visiting this incredible site is not only a step into history but also a deep connection to the Andean worldview, where nature, tradition, and people coexist in harmony.
A must for travelers who seek cultural authenticity, history, and stunning Andean landscapes.
