High above the Apurímac Canyon, carved into dramatic cliffs and surrounded by stunning Andean scenery, stands Waqrapukara, meaning “Fortress of the Horns” in Quechua. This impressive Inca ceremonial center remains one of the lesser-known treasures of Cusco, offering travelers a perfect combination of history, archaeology, and breathtaking landscapes.

The name comes from the two distinctive horn-shaped rock formations that frame the site, creating a surreal and majestic atmosphere. Unlike more crowded destinations, Waqrapukara is ideal for those who seek off-the-beaten-path adventures and intimate contact with Peru’s cultural heritage.

Whether you’re a history lover, trekking enthusiast, or photography aficionado, this journey promises a rewarding experience through remote Andean terrain.
